About the Exhibition
Randi Antonsen solo exhibition
Norwegian artist, Randi Antonsen, both paints and draws on the canvas, combining recognizable forms with abstract shapes and lines. The images seem to jumble a dream sequence into one energetic composition, which evokes the natural confluence of forces in nature.
Richard Sunderland has written for Inside Solo magazine, "There is something extravagant, female and gloriously beautiful about Randi Antonsen's abstractions. There is above all fabulous colour, purposeful colour, argumentative colour".
garden is a riot of color and lines on a black and maroon ground. Almost a work in two parts, it bathes the senses in the excitement of planting and watching things grow.
Randi's many bird paintings are favorites. She says, "the bird is a symbol of the human soul and freedom". Although not all of Randi's bird paintings are colorful, birds II is. Pale gray-blue lines wind their way around the pink and yellow canvas, as if tracing the notes of bird songs or flight paths. A half dozen white birds are the counter-point to color, but focal point of the work.
