About the Exhibition
Adam Bogusz solo exhibition
Adam Bogusz's acrylic paintings, admittedly personal, are vibrantly expressed and boldly composed.
Although Adam paints in two distinctive, recognizable styles, he may safely be called an abstract expressionist. It is interesting that in many works, the mass of the painting lies in the lower nine tenths of the picture plane, forcing itself on the viewer for face time, but in a bright, beguiling way.
Adam claims to paint quickly. His dynamic marks attest to this. Such would seem to allow Bogusz's personal expression to flow into the painting, unimpeded by prolonged meditation.
Compare and contrast the Australian artist's bright city painting, Strata title, which captures the lure of city life, with the moody atmosphere of Peak Hour, painted in 2004. While the two are instantly recognizable as Bogusz's, the people, their direct stares, and the overal dark tones of Peak Hour add mystery and a deeply personal imprint. These hint at the range of the painter.
